OVERVIEW

Queen is always the one controlling the pace of the match... just in different ways. With her throne, Queen has access to a wide array of tools to zone out the opponent. Homing projectiles, explosions, and other long range attacks all allow Queen to control the stage like no one else. If she were to lose that throne however, these tools may be lost...

Once Queen reaches 100%, her throne is destroyed and she is forced into a weak runaway playstyle in which many of her moves are completely disabled. The moves she does have are considerably weaker than normal, though they are also quite fast. This generally forces Chairless form to be a sort of last-ditch-effort attempt to take a stock. Her defense is considerably weaker in this state, so she will likely die soon after.

This goes without saying but when playing as Queen you will generally want to... avoid damage. Queen is heavily punished for letting an opponent through her zoning, and ending up in Chairless Form is a near death sentence. Zone well, and the match will be yours.

 Queen is a powerful projectile zoner that transitions into a weak runaway character at high damage.

PROS   /   CONS
  • Zoning: Queen has excellent zoning capabilities, easily setting up a wall of projectiles to push out the opponent and create pressure.
  • Damage: With the right setup, Queen's combos can do high damage and carry the opponent across the stage.
  • Chairless: Without the hover throne, Queen is a substantially worse character that loses almost all capabilites other than running away.
  • Movement: Queen has generally unremarkable movement, being somewhat slow and predictable.
  • Con 3: A problem.
  • Con 4: A problem.
  • Con 5: A problem.
Unique Mechanic: Hover Throne
Queen has two seperate movesets: the zoning based Throne Form, and the runaway Chairless Form. Throne Form is much stronger, and is what Queen starts with. After taking 100% Queen is forced into Chairless Form, which is significantly weaker. In Chairless Form, Queen only has access to tilts, a single aerial, and a single special. She cannot use dash attack, strong attacks, or grab.

Upon once Queen goes past 100%, the chair explodes and knock back both Queen and the attacker. This explosion does no damage.

A floating screen that shoots three bullets. While not strong, these bullets interrupt the opponent and lock them in place. The screen can be placed nearly anywhere in front of Queen by controlling its movement, even going far outside the bounds of the stage.

Overview
  • Happy Deltarune Chapter 3 / 4 release!

    Queen was... a mess. She didn't really have a coherent design concept besides "reference Deltarune". I guess she still felt in character to some extent, but there is way more that could be done. For example... why doesn't she fight with her chair? It's the main "weapon" she makes use of. This combined with the lack of a moveset direction has led to this new concept. In her chair, Queen becomes a "bag-of-tricks" zoner, throwing a wide variety of projectiles and long ranged attacks to keep the opponent out. Once her chair is destroyed, she does the same thing as the original game: run. She loses most of her abilities in exchange for quick movement, becoming a pretty bad character otherwise. This has made her a way more faithful character, and in my opinion way more fun.
