I can at least see how this conclusion was reached when looking at him with a first glance and very brief story overview. But it really just doesn't work.

Throws away pretty much all of it in favor of making it... creepy, I guess? Almost like how Strive faust ended up but a lot less "depression" (which isn't what he is but it is the best way to describe it) and more "zombie". It just doesn't work for Faust.
Lyrics
...These have literally nothing to do with Faust. At all. An argument could be made that they almost fit Dr. Baldhead, but I would say that even that is a stretch.
