A past contender for my favorite song in the series. Mainly for that ending. It is just really, really beautiful...
Melody
The song has a memorable, if somewhat unexciting, melody. I think it does fit the vibe of the song quite well, but there are many that are better.
Evolution
As the song goes on, it gets more and more emotional. The "As the universe turned black" section loses instruments each time and gets slower. Near the end, an echo of the vocals comes in, giving it an ever increasing "heavenly" feel.
Emotion
The last two minutes of this song are simply incredible. I honestly can't really put into words the feeling I get from it. It's beautiful.
Bangerness
I have a primal urge to scream the lyrics at the end along with Naoki. I won't do that, as I would rather not have people hearing that, but I can certainly fake it. The point here is that few songs get me to do that.
Characterization
The Gravity continues the organ from The Man, keeping the "ethereal space god" feeling that Asuka deserves.
Lyrics
The lyrics tell of his struggles with his past and present; He has incredible guilt towards what he has done to Sol and Aria, wondering if they even still recognize him after what he has become. He needs to find the answers, to figure out the world and to figure out his future. Gravity, a universal, unchanging factor, metaphorically "grounds" him in this search.
