The Disaster Of Passion is similar to Perfection Can't Please Me in that there are many people that do not like it much. There was a period where I actually thought it was the best song. That was very early in my time listening to the series' music. But I still think it is good! Just not the best.
Melody
Has a very upbeat feeling among Strive's soundtrack, similar to all of May's previous tracks.
Evolution
It has an evolution though it doesn't last too long before going back into a modified version of the chorus. But that feels about right for this song.
Emotion
It is good. Chorus and end. Like most songs.
Bangerness
The chorus is certainly near the top of the "bangerness" rankings. Very good all around.
Characterization
She sure does love Johnny (as much as she should be loving Bridget... ). This song reflects that quite well and is upbeat as May's songs always are.
Lyrics
I am, in general, a massive hater on pretty much all love songs. Especially those among "pop culture" music. It's all garbage. I don't care that you fell in love or out of love and say the most basic things to convey that. It feels like it is engineered to make the general public go "Wow! This song is talking about love. How relatable! I feel that often!" Well guess what? Not everyone does. I'm aromantic. Those songs have no effect on me. They emit the most basic emotions and say nothing. The point of this is, The Disaster of Passion is significantly better. It actually tries to SAY SOMETHING. Something more complex than "I am in love" So for making me actually like a love song, I give Lyrics a 1.00.
